Has My Bike Been Sitting Too Long? -- HONDA SHADOW TROUBLESHOOTINGUpdated 14 days ago

A customer writes, "My Honda Shadow has been sitting for a while so I took it out for a test ride and it sounded OK at first. But toward the end of the ride, it started sounding 'off' then I noticed it was leaking gas."

A few things to consider: 

1. Leaving your bike to sit for a while could create rust in the tank 

2. Debris or varnish could be stuck in the float valve so you'll need to get in there to check 

3. Gas that's been sitting for a while in your fuel passages can create a sort of varnish that compromises fuel passageways
